A Sad Day in Hazzard, actor James Best, who played Sheriff Coltrane, dead at 88

April 11, 2015Newshazzard county, james best, Rosco P Coltrane, Sheriff, sheriff rosco

It’s a sad day in Hazzard, our dear friend and hero, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (James Best) died Monday, April 6th, in hospice care in Hickory, North Carolina. According to the Charlotte Observer, Best died from complications of pneumonia. He was 88.

As you all know, Rosco was there from the start. From the first episode, One Armed Bandits he was right there with Boss Hogg (Sorrell Brooke) always working up a plan to trap good ‘ol Bo and Luke Duke. Rosco was such a key character and you could always count on him and his side-kick Flash to keep the Duke boys kicking up dirt and driving fast! Just think, without Rosco, we there wouldn’t of been a single jump of the General Lee since Bo and Luke wouldn’t of been running!

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. To learn more about James Best’s great life and career, visit his website at jamesbest.com.
